In an increasingly interconnected and multicultural global society, the scope of English Language Teaching (ELT) must transcend traditional linguistic objectives such as grammar instruction, vocabulary acquisition, and syntactic proficiency to encompass the broader goal of fostering intercultural competence. As English continues to serve as a global lingua franca, used by speakers of diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds, it becomes essential for language education to reflect this diversity not only in teaching methods but also in the materials selected for classroom use. The exclusive reliance on materials that portray predominantly Western, native-speaker cultures often fails to represent the multifaceted ways in which English is employed across different communities around the world.
