The article addresses the question of what foreign language teaching must achieve so that students learn to use artificial intelligence tools effectively and in doing so become aware of the importance of human expertise. This is illustrated by concrete examples: finding linguistic equivalents for idiomatic expressions, culturally determined metaphors, ambiguous, context-dependent and emotional expressions. The emphasis is on cultivating both intercultural competence and skills in critical source evaluation.
