Children's literature in Uzbekistan has its roots in folklore. Afterwards, on the late of the 19th and the early of the 20th centuries, written children's literature started to emerge as a distinct field after developing synergistically as a component of adult literature. During the years of independence, children's prose, which had been improving since the 1960s and 1970s, was able to compete with more mature examples of children's prose from around the world.
