The choice of appropriate teaching methods plays a crucial role in the effectiveness of foreign language instruction. This article examines two significant approaches in language teaching: the Grammar Translation Method and Skills Integration. The study first provides an overview of the Grammar Translation Method, focusing on its principles, classroom practices, advantages, and limitations. It then analyzes the concept of Skills Integration, which emphasizes the interconnected development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in communicative contexts. By comparing these two approaches, the paper highlights their differences in objectives, techniques, and learning outcomes. The findings suggest that while the Grammar Translation Method contributes to grammatical accuracy and reading skills, the Skills Integration approach is more effective in developing communicative competence. The study concludes that integrating multiple language skills can better meet the demands of modern language education.
