Ushbu maqolada o‘zbek tilining arab tilini o‘rganishdagi o‘rni nazariy, empirik va shaxsiy tajriba asosida tahlil qilinadi. Muallif psixolingvistik va til ta’limi nazariyalariga tayangan holda, ona tili yangi grammatik tushunchalarni anglash, metatilingvistik tafakkurni rivojlantirish va chet tilidagi qiyin qoidalarni soddalashtirishda qanday kognitiv vosita bo‘lib xizmat qilishini ko‘rsatadi. Maqolada shaxsiy kuzatuvlar, qiyosiy grammatik tahlil hamda zamonaviy ilmiy manbalarga tayanilgan holda ona tilining ikki yo‘nalishdagi roli – ko‘prik va filtrlovchi sifatida – ochib beriladi.
