This study investigates whether single-use plastics, including straws, bags, and utensils, should be banned due to their environmental and societal impacts. The research is based on qualitative analysis of secondary data, including historical accounts, environmental studies, and reports from international organizations. The findings reveal that single-use plastics contribute significantly to global pollution, particularly in marine ecosystems, where they accumulate and harm wildlife. Although plastics offer convenience, affordability, and hygiene benefits, their long-term environmental consequences are substantial. The study concludes that banning or significantly reducing single-use plastics, combined with the promotion of sustainable alternatives and improved waste management systems, is a necessary step toward mitigating the global plastic pollution crisis.
