This chapter critically examines the theoretical underpinnings and practical applications of linguistic and linguocultural approaches in foreign language teaching (FLT). While traditional linguistic methods prioritize grammatical and structural mastery, linguocultural approaches emphasize the inseparable link between language and culture, aiming to develop intercultural competence. Drawing upon established pedagogical frameworks, this analysis synthesizes these two orientations, arguing for their indispensable integration. The chapter posits that a holistic FLT paradigm must transcend mere linguistic proficiency to cultivate learners' ability to navigate diverse cultural contexts, thereby fostering effective communication and global understanding.
